Nazarene News from Haiti

While meeting basic needs is still top priority, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries are
already moving forward with plans for the long-term rebuilding of
Haiti — a process that will take years. The goal: to make living
conditions better than before the earthquake.

Crisis Care Kits

CCK

Crisis Care Kits (CCK) are a practical way to meet needs during times of crisis. They include basic hygiene items such as shampoo, toothpaste, and towels and enable churches to be a compassionate presence in their communities during disaster. Thousands of CCKs are made, stored, and shipped globally each year as needs inevitably arise around the world. Please follow the instructions sheet to the right exactly for its contents and shipping information. Because of customs regulations, it is imperative that we know the exact contents of each kit so as not to deter a shipment.

These kits are currently being sent to Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake that hit on January 12, 2010 and will be distributed in the weeks and months to come.

Alabaster Sunday

Wanted: Coins, Dollars and Checks to help build churches, hospitals, lives and hope around the world.
Each February and September, Nazarenes are encouraged to pour out their Alabaster love gifts like the woman mentioned in Matthew 26:6-13 who poured out her costly alabaster oil to cleanse Jesus’ feet to demonstrate her love for Him. All of the funds collected through the Alabaster Offering are used to purchase land and construct churches, schools, and hospitals around the world. A special box makes it easy to collect your love-gift for this twice-a-year offering.

Compassion as a Lifestyle

Compassion arises out of the good news of Christ. It is something that God awakens and works in our daily lifestyle as we respond to the love and grace we have received in our Lord and as we respond to the need of our neighbors. As we live out compassion through our vocations, they become more than just jobs — we respond to God’s gracious calling to live a life that is a witness to God’s love and compassion. Such is the motivation of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries’ (NCM’s) work around the world that would not be possible without the thousands of pastors, laity, and missionaries who are saying “Yes!” to God’s work in the world. This “Yes!” is essential to being Christlike disciples to the nations.

Financial Needs

Collections will be taken for next several Sundays to assist Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in the Caribbean relief efforts. One of the benefits of being part of a very connected denomination is that we already have boots on the ground with a plan to address the need.
